Gsp growth rate

Iv had my 2 gsp now 4about 9 months.
They were about a inch when i bout them, now I would say there around 2and a half inchs,
I moved them into a 55 (uk) gallon tank 3 months ago 2 give them more room, but I don't feel there growin much?
Is it possible there stunted from preveous tank? Or do I now at this stage increase slowly the salinity, movin up 2 marine??
Will this b more benifitual for them? And increse there growin rate?
Or am I just wantin my puffs 2 get nice and big before they should??
Am I just impatiant?? Lol

I think you are impatient! I believe that GSPs are one of the slowest growing puffers. They have more than doubled in size since you got them! What SG are they currently at?

wat should I move up 2? For a nearly 3" puff?

Mine are about two with ollie and two and three quarters for spot and there at 1.018sg and seem really happy. But as long as you feed them and give them attention they always seem happy lol!

If you can afford a live rock and skimmer, the puffers will not suffer from being in full marine early, and may even benefit from being able to keep their water cleaner.

Ok great, are ur gsp in full marine then?
In relation 2 the filter, can I still use my external, and put sum live rock in the tank?
Iv got some dead live rock at the min, would that go with the live rock ok?

If you work your tank up to full marine at the recommended rate, then add cured live rock, it will seed all the live rock in the tank, given enough time. I"d leave the external filter on until you have both skimming and live rock established. Yes, my GSPs are at full marine.

Brilliant, i love a challange, that's wat I'm goin 2 slowly start doin, at wat sg can I start 2 introduce live rock?
Just 2 make sure, the old rock in there in time will become live,? (so to speak)

If it's base rock, tufa rock, or any porous rock made of primarily carbonates, it will turn live with extended exposure to well cured live rock. I found live rock works as intended at anything above 1.017. I'd get a skimmer as soon as you hit 1.016, start adding live rock the week after that, and gradually bring the SG to 1.020 and stay there for GSPs. Skimmer and live rock work well enough, with 20% less salt than running at 1.024, the marine "standard."

im not sure wat rock it is?
its white/cream (green at min!) with lots of holes etc,so id say its come from a reef, it looks like it.
so if i can get hold of sum more of that, i could fill up a larger space cheeper, then when i introduce sum live rock, over time it will seed the rest?
would i just leave all media in filter? as long as i dont raise sg 2 quick, bateria should be fine?
wat is the rate 2 increse sg=time?
