My 7 year old got mad at me and put a few drops of neon green food coloring into a five gallon bucket that I am using to create salt water for my tanks...the bucket has a filter (no filter media) and heater attached to it.
Needless to say he is in a serious time out.
If this was just regular water I would just throw it away and start over.
But, this bucket has A lot of $$$ salt in it...as I make it very concentrated and use other buckets (with filters) of FW to dilute it and then put into tanks.
Should I throw it away? If I used a filter with media would that take out the color??
Because it is save for humans would it be save for puffs...after a lot of dilution?

i have used food coloring to try to get fish to eat some krill i baught at one time. At first i was thinking maybe if it was a darker color they would eat it.... so i used food coloring to make it a dark red color. They actually tore into after i did that. There was a lil bleed off in my water not much at all though and it didnt hurt anything in my tank plants or fish. But that was a fw tank i dont know what it would do to a sw tank just my experiance with food coloring in a tank.

I don't imagine just a few drops would matter at all.

Why don't you filter it with activated carbon just to be safe?

All is well! By the time the SW was diluted I could not see the coloring anymore
