Hope you guys do not get discouraged with me. I promise I have read every FW and BW puffer profile in the pufferpedia, but I need to find a puffer that is right for me and I can't do that with puffer profiles alone
All of you "Ambush puffer" keepers, what are some of your favorite things about these puffers? They seem like they would be dull to keep besides feeding time. Is that true? I am just trying to make educated decisions.
Have you had a good look at the redeye species? I imagine you could keep 2 irrubescos in your tank.
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

My Puffers: 1 GSP (Microfiche) RIP, 1 Monotrete Turgidus (Leon) in a 30gal. 1 Monotrete suvattii in a 40 gal FW. 120 gallon BW with 3 juvenile Dragon Gobies (so cool). 55 gal with a 2" GSP named Hank. 180 gallon being set up for a Fahaka in the next few months!
My secret favorite of all mine is my Suvatti (don't tell the others they get jealous). They are a lurker species with some attitude and a unique look. He does like his cave and really doesn't come out unless he wants to be fed and even then he just sticks his nose out and gives me "the look". My other lurker is a Turgdis that I rarely see. He likes to hide in the tightest of caves but will come out in the morning to say hi and occasionally comes to the glass and gives a little shimmy to let me know he's there. He is a true ambush hunter though, if it moves he will wait for it to show it's blind side than violently attack. He has had a few incidents where he didn't quite get the blind side and food turned on him.....
"Darwin swings...annnnnnd a miss. Boy Jim, Chuck's suffered at the plate tonight. He's 0 for 3 and I'm not sure he's recovered from that shoulder pull a few weeks ago. I'll bet the front office is re-thinking that contract."
