Basically it is an issue of personal responsibility and of the need for forethought and planning.

BINGO. That's EXACTLY what got me so upset. Irresponsible pet ownership, one of the reasons I never wanted to be a vet (my mom is one so everyone asks if that's what I want to be), I couldn't handle the owners. There are some things that drive me batty and this is one of them. If there's a rank beginner who follows the advice of an employee then that's fine, in an honest world an employee would give you the proper information...

i have two figure eight puffs and two bumble gobies in the same brackish tank there are two different bumble bee gobies and fish stores at times sell them as the same but even if you had one that is "fresh water as opposed to brack water it still would be ok in the brackish tank, they are supposed to be hard to feed meaning they will sit and eat the brine shrimp as it passes by, but both my little gobies seem to go get the food when i serve it up before the puffers get to it at times, i try to distract the puffs with crab or krill but it desn"t work all the time as they are johnny on the spot when it comes to food. i am new at keeping fish and still in the learning mode it takes some time, patience and of course at times loss of your fish but one keeps trying and seeks help and some advice from others so best of luck with all your efforts and at times trials. susan franks

the only thing i truely didnt know about before i brought it home was a palembang (other than the bb goby).... and the only reason for that was because i had a cycled 55gal tank waiting to house a puffer... no harm in learning about it until after the fact if i knew it was FW and didnt take kindly to tankmates.... and i may ask a lot of questions, but i really like learning about different things, and i feel that sometimes, the best knowledge comes from people with personal experiences. google is full of crappy info, so id rather ask people who make fish keeping their life. i really dont see any harm. if my question asking bothers you, dont answer them, thats all.

and im really sorry i followed the advice of the petstore guy... ive always been drawn to bb gobies, and had never seen them sold anywhere by me... so when i saw him at a store almost an hour away, the only thing i had to go off was the pet store guy, which i admit may not have been the smartest thing. if it doesnt work out in my tank, no problem, my moms got a tank, and it is infact brackish (this is where i plan on learning all my brackish info from in the future, shes really good with hers), he can just go there she only lives 10 min away. no issues. please relax guys. i admit, there was a lack of knowledge on my part. but learning is a part of fish keeping. im sure RTR, Pufferpunk, pufferpuggirl, J-P.... all those people i consider to be closer to experts than i will ever be, have had their moments of trial and error, i have heard some admit it, and others i have not, but i can assure you, mistakes have been made by each one of them, and what happened, they learned from it, i can assure you that.... and look where they are today... for god sake, one of them owns this site!

so please guys, just take it as the fact that im still learning, i may make a few mistakes here and there, but im learning from them. ive only really gotten into anything more than cichlid tanks in the last year. i used to be strictly cichlids.... so anything else is new to me, and im just learning okay? sorry this was so long
