Re: Quick gsp question
I too am another lucky one. My GSP's will all eat whatever I put in the tank. I am not sure there is anything the little heffers wouldn't eat.

Re: Quick gsp question
Freeze them PPG. Thaw them when you need them. I do it when I collect loads from the beach. They go crazy for them! Picking & scraping to get the meat out must be good for their teeth too.pufferpuggirl wrote:My two GSP's are a bit picky too. They even turn their nose up at earthworms, which are loved by most of my other puffers. They seem mostly interested in mussels, absolutely love them. I bought some live ones a while back, and they went mental on them. Only problem with getting the live ones is that you have to buy a big bag of them, and I don't have the space to store them and they get rank very quickly.

Re: Quick gsp question
Get this, mine ate half a pea today. I take frozen green peas, nuke them for 30 seconds, remove the outer shell and out pops 2 halves. I normally give them to my cichlids but I wanted to see if my gsp would eat a bit. Sure enough, down the hatch in seconds. Is it ok to give them a veggie on occassion? Or is that a no no?

Re: Quick gsp question
GSP's are omnivorous I believe. I've read about how they bite little chunks out of plants when housed in fresh water or low end brackish. I'm pretty sure mine was nibbling on a piece of macro algae it found, either that or it's my clown...don't know which is more likely!!

Re: Quick gsp question
Peas on occasion are good for them, to keep them regular ( going poop).

I buy about a lb every 10 days. Feed them ground plankton/flakes/krill & soak in vitamins.
