Live Rock/Ocean Rock

Post by bigfatfish »

I have a 55 UK gallon BW tank. I like the look of live rock, but I am not ready to go marine yet. Advertised on e-bay, there is 'ocean rock'. It appears to look very similar to live rock, but it is not live. Is it another type of rock, of just dead, live rock? The price is around £20 for 20kg (I believe it is a special offer at the moment).
Does anyone know if this would be suitable just as decoration in my BW tank?

You're right, it's the dead version of live rock. I've got some in with my mudskippers (SG1.006) and some in with my fiddler crab (SG1.012), i like the look of it and it provides plenty of hidey holes :D

I got that rock in my tank, it's just dead live rock!! (makes sense!)
it looks great+ britens the tank up, the only prob is alot of food collects in the pits in the rock. Hopefully ur shrimp will live in there+ sort that out
get lost in the music........ride wid it!

Yep, thats what I got In my BW 1.015 GSP tank it just adds the marine look till Im actually there, I love it. I cant wait to add some Live rock and begin seeding this rock. And get some good coralline algae too. I made sure thou to leave an area in the tank where most food would be dropped in and eaten or uneaten so it can be vacuumed up easily. So It wont Go on the rocks. But I guess that'll all change once I add a powerhead or two.
