Fahaka behavior

I figure my fahaka is about 1 1/2 years old now. What I have been noticing lately is the change in behavior. He used to be more active and eat like a pig. Now he spends alot of his time buried under the manzita wood in the tank. All the parameters are where they should be and religiously do weekly 50% wc's. His color is still good and not dark and his tail is always nice and straight.(I have found that a sick puffer will normally start to curl their tail) When I feed him he used to race up to the top of the tank to grab whatever I was feeding him, now I drop it in the tank and he kind of just checks it out for a bit then eats it.

So do you figure his behaviour is just something that comes with age? I have heard that as they get a bit older they tend to be less active. What my main question is, should I worry?

My adult 7 year old usually just hangs around under his mangrove root, unless the big Goldspot pleco chases him out.

Well I have noticed lately that he seems to like eating more and is more active once the lights go out.

Having never owned a fahaka (yet) I would guess that its probably pretty normal.. obviously check things like your temp and nitrates, to make sure everything is acceptable. Could be he's growing, and conserving energy for that, who knows.

His coloring is just gorgeous though! I love the bright green stripes!

Paris is probably 3-4 years old, I lose track. But just recently, she's taken to burying herself (well, she tries, all she can manage is a few teaspoons of sand thrown over her back). She never did this before, even when she was a baby.. it started the day I brought a new betta home and set him up in a tank across the room from her. We can only figure that he was yelling nasty threats across the room and she got scared! Whatever the reason, it was a sudden behavior change that I completely did not expect! She seems fine, but every few days we'll find her "buried" and she really thinks we can't see her *sigh*
