When i can get hold of a bigger tank for my fig 8s - ill look at adding bb gobbies in there and some mollies and guppies then see what happens with them -

There's been some articles lately, over here at least, which talk about Bumble Bee gobies being freshwater, whether they mean fresh by nature, or existing in fresh, I'm not sure. I've had mine in freshwater all along and they are very bright and beautiful. Most LFS's keep them in fresh (although I know that's not really saying much).

There was a good article in Practical Fishkeeping, and I'd refer you to their site, only they were hacked into a while back and they shut down their site after that. I subscribe to their magazine too, and could maybe find the article that way, but it would take me a long time to find that particular magazine.

alhough most sites etc say they are brackish, im pretty sure that actually they are freshwater....ive always had mine in freshwater,and they have bred more than once, they wouldnt do that if they werent happy and in the right conditions would they?

A bit up the post someone was asking about Craigslist vs ebay. I've used Aquatic classifieds here in the UK - it's got search by county.

Got my pond vat off of there for about 1/4 the retail price if you can even get a lfs to order one for you. Mine just went 'we'll see, I'll ask my supplier' then 'no, can't get you one' about two months later. That's an excuse!

I've got a fairly large group of dwarf puffers in my community Cube tank (142-gallons), I call them my "puffer mob" because they cruise around the tank in little groups. I've got all sorts of fish in that tank, and other than seeing them nip at a Cory once in a while, none of my fish are missing fins or are looking tatty. There's gouramis, Buenos Aires Tetras, Endlers, regular guppies, neon and black tetras, and other fish that I can't even think of. It's quite a mixed bag, but the puffers survive and don't appear to bother anyone. I watch them alot, that whole tank is interesting to just sit there and watch what goes on. There's also some very tiny DP's in there, and I would have thought one of the catfish would have eaten them.

What size is the tank? And what lighting have you got for supporting the planting?
I know I sound nerdish now but I need to upgrade the lighting on the 2' DP tank. lol

autophotos -- is that strictly a shrimp tank in that photo? If it is, it's being wasted on those shrimp (in my opinion, of course). That's really beautiful! Love the colours together, so natural. Really nice.

hey pugpuffergirl- thats 1 of 3 large shrimp in the dp mansion. no problems and have been there for a good while now. 17dps 5 bbgobies 5 glowlight tetras who steal food from every one haha, tank is 300L.

poffor i need to upgrade the lighting more on the tank and add co2 setup, up till now i have just been fertilising at water changes and daily with 2 diff ferrepol products . the lighting isnt supporting all the plants as some dont do so well .

a friend of mine may be giving me some ameca spleders/splendids. but will have to see if they will go in or not.

They are some lucky DP's!! You've really done a great job on that one. Have you thought about entering the best tanks category on Practical Fishkeeping's site? I definitely think that's every bit as good, or better, than some of the ones I've seen displayed in the magazine even.

Wonderful tank! Just wondering--how do you clean that substrate with those larger stones in there? Looks like lots of places to trap foods.
