i want another puffer will any work for this tank

Post by kevinjgray88 »

i had an f8 which was really cool but took him back because my tank was to small only 5 gallons. So i really want one but dont really want to up grade. Will the tank be good enough for a Dwarf puffer? and if so how hard will it be to maintain. meaning do i have to do a ton of water changes or just once a week or so.

Tanks or thanks i mean

A DP would work in a tank that small. It would be cutting it close though. You would have to do 50% weekly changes.

Smaller tanks are harder to keep stable though so you'll have to keep that in mind.

A betta would enjoy that too though I know those aren't puffers ;)
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

I agree with Flutter, you could have ONE dwarf puffer in a tank that small, but it's going to be harder to keep stable, and you are still going to have to do those water changes, possibly more than once a week on a tank that size.

I think you'd be better just to upgrade, is there a specific reason you can't upgrade, or you just don't want to?

I think DP's are happiest in groups, but there's no way I would put more than one in a tank that size. :)

Duh... why didn't I think of that? Do they have DPs at your fish store? You'll have to bring back the danios. Do the swap on the same day though, so the tank stays cycled. It's pretty cool if they'll let you do that, since you already brought back one fish.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Yes, 1 DP should be fine in there.
