GSP with starfish?

if i have my GSP's in a full marine tank, could i put a starfish in with them without trouble?

Depends on the individual puffer. I've seen them with chocochips.

Really? that would be great because i want to get one, do u think if i put it in now while the GSP's are still young it will be less likely for them to attack it?

They get more aggressive with age.

ok so maybe if i get them used to it now while there still a little docile it will be more likely to work out ??? jus checking because i wouldnt want to get one and see it suffer

What SG is your GSP at now?

1.010 right now but i am increasing by .002 every week with water changes and will soon be gettin a new larger tank.

I wouldn't put an invert in anything <1.023.

thank's for asking I was wondering that same ? My tank is at 1.022 and my gsp is about 2.5 inch very happy but I heard they might eat the little chips off the star fish.

This doesnt really help with the Q, but just food for thought, a chocolate chip star will try to eat just about anything that isnt toxic to it. Mine ate a few snails, attempted to eat sleeping hermits, but when it came close to eating my burrowed and sleeping takifugu niphobles puffer it was too much. Under further examination the star had its mouth/stomach thing out and had created some what of a burn mark looking mark.

it caused a ring on the puffer?

not really a ring, but more kinda like a sore or burn, the area turned white, sluffed mucusy stuff then it disappeared in a few days. The puff got up when the star got full on top of it, the puffer then bit the top off of one of the chocolate 'chips'. The star was given to a fellow fish keeper the next day. I assume it still lives in a 100g rubbermaid sump...

But since GSPs dont really sleep in the sand I am sure the star wont get the GSP.

i have had a chocolate chip starfish in my 75 with my GSP and a bunch of other filler damsels and stuff. the only thing my puffer did was go up to it on the glass, look at the chips, lightly biting it(didnt take a chunk out it seemed to want to taste what it was before he took a bite) and didnt bother it after that. now he acts like it isnt even there. it was funny though because at first since the starfish moves so slow i think the puffer thought it was a decoration, but then it wouldnt be in the same spot as a few minutes previously so he would look at it funny

the starfish has been in the tank for probably 9 months or so. never was missing any fish mysteriously at any time. as long as you have some pretty active fish i dont think the starfish eating or getting one will be an issue.
