Its sad to see a puffer suffer.
At the local pet shop today just looking a around. AS always mainly checking to see if there were any puffers, not that I wanted to buy any. There he was a 3.5 inch gsp in fresh water tummy all black and not very happy
. He is now in my care I am slowly drip acclimating him to my other gsp tank. wish me luck .Time to go a craigslist to find him his own tank. Oh by the way he is already starting to look better. And I will of course cycle this new tank. but in the mean time bradford (my other gsp) will have a tankmate.

I hope he doesn't introduce any diseases to your puffer.

Well he is nice and fat, and sense he was in fresh water wont most diseases die in the transition from fresh to full marine. but I found a 55 gal. for him on craigslist everthing included plus stand for $100. I have the next month off work. So time to care for him.

If you are acclimating that far in salinity, please take some good long time doing this. No more than .002/hour please!

Hey, good for you for rescuing that puffer, I think that's great. I know some people don't think people should do such things, but I always feel sorry for the fish (or animal) and want to do the best for them.
Good thing you've got the next month off, that gives you plenty of time to work with setting up the new tank and getting things sorted.
I'm very proud of you!

Re: Its sad to see a puffer suffer.
I'm pretty sure internal parasites can transfer in spite of salinity changes. I would deworm all the inhabitants once the new guy is settled in.

I deworm all new fish, as a precaution. Those central filtration systems spread disease like wildfire. Better to zap it now than later when it shows up and is doing actual harm.
