GREEN SPOTTED PUFFER SCARED S***LESS!!!???

Post by xmikebrock »

i just finally put my GSP, Lamaldi, into my main tank...

had to raise the SG in Lamaldis Tank, before i put him in the "big" tank, 72 g.

but since i put him in, he was white and yellow, very happy looking in the smaller 20g tank

and once i put him in the big tank, he turned his dark, "not so sure" color..

he is in there with a porc puff thats about 5", an ocellaris* clown about 1.5-2", and a snowflake moray eel about 10"

i am worried about the snowflake with Lamaldi, the GSP

Lamaldi is a surprisingly peaceful GSP, i had him living with guppies who also acclimated to SG for 6 months and he never showed any threat toward them.

will he eventually get over this state of mind of being scared?

Lamaldi is about 2"

maybe related or totally unrelated, I don't know which.

When I transplanted my KOI, he was fine with his tank mates. I had to move the tank mates and all he does is hide when someone is in the room. He also likes partial darkeness. I know some species of fish hide in the shadows (predator / prey) thing and like to "hide" in the hard scape of the tank. They come out when they feel it is safe. Possibly too much open water for the little guy?

no no ... different, had to move the Koi's tank mates (2 Gold fish) for their own reasons. But the Koi was solo until I got a comet. He still hides any time someone enters the room. Lots of open water, very little shading in a 53 gallon tank. USUALLY koi are very friendly and come to greet you at the tank but since I took his tank mates away he's always scared. He went from a 30 gal over stocked tank to a 53 gal tank (solo).

If I was a GSP I'd be terrified of a porc and moray eel too!

He sounds quite smart!

No. Incompatibility isn't something that the fish get used to - it's something that will doubtless get worse as these fish grow and become more aggressive.

Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Yep. Incompatibility is a disaster waiting to happen. Always.

How big is he? Small enough to be eaten by anyone?

well, the snowflake could prolly bite him and then find a way to fit him in his mouth lol

but he hasnt really paid any attention to him since hes been in there,

the porc has chased him around a couple times, but i feel that hes just being curious right now, cuz hes new in there and will eventually wear off, cuz he did the same with the clown fish

but the porc could fesibly* bite him also

the GSP is 1.5-1.75"
the clown is like the same
the porc is 4"
and the eel is like 11"

And the tank is how big? Do you have plenty of rocks & hidey holes for the puffer to feel safe?
