I'm learning that puffer fish are like pringles. There is no such thing as only wanting one.
Tanks:
38 gallon: 1 Figure 8 puffer, 1 Dragon Goby, 1 Knight Goby, 3 Black Mollies
30 gallon: 1 Blue Acara, 1 Bristlenose Pleco
120 gallon: Ratchet the Fahaka Puffer

Re: Introducing: Duke
I hope you guys aren't spending a ton of $$$ on those mutts.. I mean "designer" breeds. We sold them for $35 at the shops I used to work at. That was before I knew all pet shop puppies were from poor puppy mill dogs.busybones wrote:We are all getting the new designer mixes! He's beutiful...

Re: Introducing: Duke
Not all dogs from petshops are from puppy mills... some do, yes.
Mine was a rescue.
The only reason the lady would take the pups in was if they could fix the parents.
I also seen the parents, and they definitely were loved to the fullest.
Also, my mutt was less then a full-breed
I think if you love your pet, there is no price limit on it.

Re: Introducing: Duke
No reputable breeder would dump their pups off at a pet shop to be sold to... who knows?

Re: Introducing: Duke
I don't see how that's even relevant?
Either way, as far as I know, they weren't even intending on breeding their dogs.
It just kind of happened.. hence why they didn't care to have their dogs fixed.
I just posted pictures to show my puppy, not have a discussion about whether or not a breeder is breeding for money or for the joy of doing it...

Re: Introducing: Duke
Wow, your Duke is a real handsome little guy! I love puppies, and nothing can make me smile more than a puppy can. He's beautiful Lisa, really lovely. Just a note .... I only just seen this post tonight, but I'd not give your puppy those Pig's ears. They are nasty, and stay well away from horses hooves, as I've seen them for sale over here, and they can make quite a mess. Try him with some Nylabones, my dogs love them.
How old is Duke now?

Re: Introducing: Duke
Thanks so much Suzanne!
Yeah, for sure I agree with the pigs ears, they aren't very good for a dog, especially a puppy!
When we first had him he was chewing on one, and just the pieces he would tear off scared me, he could certainly choke.
So I did some research, and found that the pig ear expands once in the pups tummy, so I took it away asap.
I have a bison nuckle.. haven't given it to him, I'm not sure if it's okay or not. It looks like it'd be quite messy!
We bought him a nyla-bone and another type of nyla-bone shaped like ribs, and supposably it has a BBQ taste.. lol!
We call it his Bar B Chew haha, and he loves it. He also LOVES peanut butter lol

Re: Introducing: Duke
Peanut butter is good to use if you ever need to get a capsule into his tummy, as most dogs are very good at spitting them out. So keep that in mind if he's ever prescribed any medication in tablet or capsule form.
My husband thinks it's funny because my Pug loves shrimp and he follows me around as I'm feeding the puffers and has been known to steal shrimp off the plate when I'm not looking. He thought only cats liked seafood, which of course is nonsense.

Re: Introducing: Duke
Haha! That is hilarious! I don't know if Duke likes shrimp or not
As for peanut butter for taking pills, already have had to do that!
As you remember he was having some problems, I first tried to mix it in with his food and adding a bit of water,
he didn't like that too much.. and I don't blame him haha, then I just put peanut butter on my finger, put the pills inside the clump of peanut butter and he'd eat it off my finger. Haven't had any problems with him spitting them out
He also has a tooth brush, with peanut flavored toothpaste haha
& He really loves ice cubes lol
