I had 2 GSP in brackish water, one died.
I have one left. He seems happy enough, swimming around etc. Will he get bored?

Not in a visually complex set-up (lots of things to explore) of 30 US gallons or more. With sexual maturity, most hunter-predators become strongly territorial - as they are in the wild - it protects their feeding grounds. GSPs do seem to adapt pretty well to others of their kind if they have been reared together, but that is not really how they they behave in nature. There they tend to be solitary adults other than for breeding.

I agree, I keep my GSP alone in a 55 gallon BW tank. He seems very happy. I have a lot of caves, plants, rocks, and driftwood for him to explore. Here is a good article on this subject.
