Hey guys, so I have my 24g Aquapod running.
I have one Madarin Goby so far.
I was wondering what Protein Skimmer I should get?
My budget is basically $50 or less.

Re: Protein Skimmer Question
save the $50, you are not going to find anything that really skims for $50

Re: Protein Skimmer Question
Both my used Backpacs were from local reefers on Reef Central, both for $50 ea.
For example, just saw this 2 seconds ago: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showt ... ?t=1787968

Re: Protein Skimmer Question
If you can find a deal like that jump on it!
I know PP you love your bakpaks, but do they really skim much compared to that ASM (you have one right?) I have read that a Remora Pro is supposed to be better than a bakpack, but mine SUCKED compared to the CSS 220, even with mag7, never skimmed more than tea.
I hear the Octopus HOBs are not bad, but I think any HOB is gonna suffer from fluctuating water level.

Re: Protein Skimmer Question
Well, you're comparing a small HOB filter, to a large in sump filter. Hard to do that. Each skims very well for their application. I've not used any of the others, so I can't compare. Only other one I had was a Prizm & although better than nothing, let's just say I'm glad I didn't pay anything for it...
