made the descision -
Well i was umming and arrring for ages about this -
had some dps allready but had then also bought a 60gal tank which i was going to turn into a nice largeish shoal of SAPs
but having been promised that shops had them here and there and nothing ever turned up . So i was thinking about other fish and what to put in the 60gal -
i visited one of the lfs and thought bugger it - lets do it -lets save the dps from the fish store - they had been there for a good while now - and not grown too much - water looked bad- and no one had bought them -
so i thought lets get them - they had 12 in but one of them had died in the weeks they were there - i found the little dead one and he was sooo tiny -
So i took home 11 more dps - been studying them for the last few hours and they all seem to be females- woohooo - so thats 11 females to then put my 3 other females and 3 males. All in a lovely 60gal huuuuge tank -
theyve been exploring now and are soo funny in their new surroundings - next on the list will be to scape the tank properly and to get some more plants in there as it looks pretty bare with 7 plants in there - thing is my smaller 3ft tanks look packed with 7 plants and a little bit of decore lol - but because of the tanks size it just looks lost and soo spaciouse.
I have the 11 new ones in the big tank now and will add the original 6 from the smaller tank to the bigger one in a day or so - sweeeet

Sounds like that'll be nice
It is absurd to talk of one animal being higher than another. We consider those, when the cerebral structure/intellectual faculties most developed, as highest. A bee doubtless would when the instincts were.

I think that's quite nice, afterall, those little DP's have alot of character, and I think you will be very pleased with them. I like the way they seem to get a pecking order once they get sorted.
I hope you will take some photos of your massive DP set up, I'd love to see it and I'm sure it will be fantastic for those little guys. With that much space, they might think they are back in the wild again. And who knows, you may have some little ones before long!
Good for you mate!

Oh cool, on pictures 2 & 3 your dwarf has the blue colours instead of black. I've only had a couple of those, and I think they are sooooo pretty! Yes, your photos are lovely, good job. Can't wait to see the bigger tank!

Re: made the descision -
11/11 females seems unlikely. My guess is that some of them are juvenile males and you'll see their adult markings come in over the next several months.
Nice pictures!
Nice pictures!
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Re: made the descision -
we see what happens with them - no tell tale signs on them yet - and i think they are a very similar age to my original ones i have. on my original ones i can clearely see the wrinkles - belly colourations , shape and lines on sides - i hope they turn out to be all females -

Nice tanks! That dwarf gourami looks really skinny though.

The first pic looks like an I SPY page or like a wheres waldo page

I believe you have small mud puddles mixed up with acres of rice paddies.

Re: made the descision -
the gouramis - eat like hell - same with the baby mollys etc
Right ive got a question about my dps -
i went to one of the better lfs today and they had what i thought were dps - they looked exactly the same as mine - however they were labelled yellow puffer -
now they loooked exactly the same as mine - same markings - similar sizes -
so can someone please tell me if mine are dps or not? The guys at the lfs said the ones theyhad - the yellow puffers were fine with other fish in tanks and wouldnt kill them??? so can someone help out?

Re: made the descision -
Yours are most definitely dwarf puffers
I've never heard a store label them "yellow puffers" though, that is very strange.
You may want to hold off for a few weeks before combining the new puffers with the old, if they are bringing in any diseases or illnesses, you don't want to give that to your healthy ones.
A bunch of females would be very cool, but yes, all young ones look like females so they may change up yet.

Re: made the descision -
right - the store selling them as yellow puffers reackon the ones they have will grow much larger than the ones i have - and they also are saying they are fine in a community tank ??
i questioned them asking if they were dps and they said nope - and that they knew what dps were -
so im very confused now-
they had a good price on them there -
