I hate running low on declor! I started to order the large bottle of prime from Dr.Fosters and smith..The one that treats 5000 gallons...If you google Dr. F&S coupon codes you can get $5 off and with shipping at $5.99 right now you can get it for around $12 and some change shipped to your house..it lasts a while and beats most LFS prices.

Yeah, I buy the 500ml bottles all the time off eBay, although I could probably use the 1 litre size , and I try to order before I'm out so I know I always have it. I've run out before and none of the LFS's around me stock Prime, so I end up having to buy something else if I run out and I don't like using anything else. In fact, I am so happy with Prime that I bought a little 50ml bottle and took it to my friend that works at an LFS to get him to use it.

ill order some off ebay now, never seen prime in any shops i usully try 2 get the same dechlor each time like, but if i dont go 2 the same shop, thats not always poss!! does it make much difference which brand i use? is there any i should avoid etc?

I've researched buying from both ebay and Dr fosters and smiths..if you get the coupon codes you can get twice the amount from Dr. F&S than you would from ebay...for the same price +/- $1

Thing is rachy, if you use Prime, you don't use as much of it, and it will last longer. Next time you have some different kind, compare it with the Prime, you don't use as much. That's what I really like about it and why I buy only that brand if I can help it.

Even though I just posted about the Drs F&S lol, there's no point shipping prime over from the US, you can buy it from here or here.

There are three brands of dechlor that I like and use.

Prime - dechlor plus can detoxify ammonia/nitrites and still leave them safe for bacteria to "eat".. stinks though!
Amquel - works the same as Prime but without the stink
Yamato Green's NoChlor - very simple, VERY safe does what it needs to do and nothing more or less

If Walmart is my only option, the Wardley's brand (Chlor-out?) is good as well.

I probably live within a few miles of you and unless you live in Newcastle, your water is probably pretty good but I'd wait it out like people have said. If you did go for the 'leave to dechlorinate' route for 24 hrs that should get rid of the chlorine but not chloramine if there. An airstone would help get rid of the chlorine.

Aquarium carbon in a bag or in an old filter would take out any heavy metals. I run carbon in the Celon puffer tank anyway as they seem so sensitive but plan to change it every month.

Hopefully the snow should be gone by tomorrow. Good thing, we kept getting stuck and had to dig car out - couldn't really go anywhere either and only made it to LFS yesterday.

yeh im not that far from durham...evenwood, near bishop and defo a good thing the snows on its way to clearing lol!! getting boring now init lool thanks fro the advice anyways, hopefully ill never b daft enough to run out dechlor again lol!

This actually isn't bad stuff. I used it for years without problem and it's the only other available here in the sticks in an emergency and is my fall back.
