Red poop and vitamin water

Post by Shrouded »

While I was watching my red-eye, I noticed that her poop is red. I believe she ate one of my cherry shrimps, but I also fed her some bloodworms soaked in Vitamin water (Zoe by Kent) for the first time. Should I be alarmed by this red poop?

Most likely it was the cherry shrimp that made her poop red, but just want to make sure if it is normal. I also want to ask if it's safe to use this vitamin water on a freshwater puffer. I notice its called Kent {marine}. I'm not sure if this part of the name or is it an indication that it is only for marine fishes....

I would say it's not so much the colour of the poop, but the consistency. If it's still the same shape and form, then it's probably just being coloured by what your puffer is eating.

I would still check the label and make sure it's FW. I don't think it would be unsafe to use SW vitamins, but it would probably be the wrong balance of nutrients.

Thanks for the replies guys :D

I read the bottle and it doesn't indicate that it's either for freshwater or saltwater. The taste might be too strong for my red eye though. I soaked it w/ the vitamin water overnight and she spat most of the worms out. After a while she did eat all of it though.

I'll try to just soak it for like 10min and see how she likes it.

The shape and form of the poop looked the same, nothing stringy or anything, it's just red. Wow I can't believe I'm talking about poop

Thanks again

What vit are you using, exactly? I don't believe 10 minutes is long enough to soak into food. I soak overnight.

It's KENT Marine "Zoe." I believe it is the same product that Rengnath is talking about on General Discussion forum.

He pretty much stated everything that is on the bottle. Do you have any other brand names of Vitamin water that you can suggest PP? Mine doesn't seem to like it when it is soaked overnight.

Vita-Chem makes FW & marine vits. I get them from DFS (don't forget their rebates!).
