Usually this is in a 4% dose in food. Pet smart used to sell it I am not sure if they still do. Pets Supplies plus does. It is actually in the food. As the clerk to see or call the store to see if they have it it is also listed on the label as Hydrochloride solution.

Are there any updates on your fish? Did they display any signs of having the infestation? How did they react to the treatment? Sorry for all of the questions...But I was curious to know how it was going.

I was re-aquascaping all my other tanks and ran out of containers to put things in while the sealant on my divider dried. I'm doing it today. Thanks for asking, though!

Btw, your two adoptees have a clean bill of health now! They're putting on weight nicely. Nasferatu has picked up the tail-biting habit - argh! - but not badly, and it's not a huge deal. Smoothie looks great. He's so active and healthy-looking.

This just adds insult to injury. This morning, I'd just gotten out of the shower, and I was standing stark-naked in the middle of my room, when the maintenance guy started knocking on my door. I said "Just a minute!" and he UNLOCKED MY DOOR! I was like ZOMG COVER UP!!!

Okay, treatment initiated. Now I get to watch the tank for three hours. And I don't even have a book-on-tape...

Welp, no worms as of yet! The fish seem fine, except they're madder than wet hornets because I've taken out all the decorations so I can watch them. Three otos and two DPs make for a very tight fit behind one heater! I offered them food, but they're not interested. They're too busy pacing the glass in that tiny corner.

Wow that maintenance guys got some nerve! Glad you found a cover up! I'm glad the treatment seems to be going well...How about the other girls fish?

Cover-up = hands. But he heard me yelling and didn't open the door very far. Phew.

Her fish took the treatment well. Even her snails and shrimp didn't show any negative effects. The fish that was showing the signs worst - her favorite angel - was doing wiggle-dances pretty soon after, so she thinks they're going to be fine.

Everyone seems fine. Time to put the decorations back in and wait!

For some reason or another, I've had an ammonia spike. I'm at .5ppm. The puffers looked okay, except that James Bond had on his "Bond, James Bond, and I'm really ticked off right now and I'm about to pull a really fancy machine gun and shoot you if you don't fix whatever it is that I don't like" colors. Two of the three otos were lethargic, and one in particular looked pretty bad. I moved them into containers (treated tank water with a little extra Prime to help with ammonia) for the substrate change. I took out the decorations and put them in a bucket with tank water and an airstone to keep the bacteria alive. I took out the gravel, put in the sand, and put the gravel, which is in big plastic bins, back into the tank, where they'll stay for several weeks so that the bacteria can transfer. I'm doing a water change, then I'll run the filter to clear out the extra sand-dust. Then I'll plant half the tank and fill in the other half with the old fake plants. Later on, once I feel confident about the bacteria establishing itself, I'll take out the fake ones and replace them with more real ones.

The little oto didn't make it, poor booger. His stomach was sort of crushed-looking. I have no idea how that happened. I had no trouble netting him. It didn't look like he was attacked. I'll get a couple more next time I'm at the pet store.

I'm still having ammonia issues. I think so, anyway. I'm not really sure. I'm getting a reading of about 1ppm at the moment (color hasn't fully developed yet), but that could be BECAUSE of my water change, not in spite of it, since I get about that much out of the tap. I put in some Prime (90% water changes are very difficult with sand, I've discovered). The puffers haven't eaten, even though it's live blackworms, their favorite. I might try a little frozen bloodworm with garlic later, and another water change.

I did get another oto at the store today, the last one. He's in quarantine with an African dwarf frog and a ghost shrimp. I was really impressed that the oto and frog were so plump. The store has really improved its feeding practices. (Now, if they would just do something about all the other stuff...)
