Here is a quick easy question.. I saw these on aquabid:
15 BREEDING SLATES 2'' X 12''
why would someone use these in breeding fish?

Angelfish (and I'm sure some other fish) lay their eggs on smooth surfaces. If you make a slate the most appealing surface for them, the eggs can easily be removed to develop and hatch in a rearing tank...

So do clownfish. Regular slate is the same thing. If you're thinking about breeding DPs, they prefer Java moss.

Yea, same thing, different shape. Some angelfish breeders use jar-type containers rather than tanks, so the long strips fit...also the eggs need to have constant circulation around them and a strip with an airstone under it makes that easy...
