I have a small tank currently housing three smaller mudskippers (the largest I believe is around 2 inches). I have always wanted to add a fiddler crab in with them. What I can't find is if the fiddlers will harm/eat the mudskippers? Does anyone know?
I believe Fiddler crabs are omnivorous scavengers...so, that being said...I think the potential is there for them to view , say, a sleeping mudskipper as food.
I wouldn't chance it - but perhaps someone with more direct experience will come forward with an opinion.

Hmm, when I first read this post I figured it the other way around. I know mudskippers have quite powerful jaws, and thought they might view the crabs as lunch. I'm no mudskipper expert though, that's for sure!
Actually my mudskippers are much smaller than any crab, like I said the largest one is just over 2 inches.
Most fiddlers come in around that size, with the exception they have armour. In the wild I know they live peacfully with each other, but I'm not sure if anyone has done it in aquaria.
I'd prefer to not risk it, I would like a definite answer. Not only are mudskippers expensive, but they can be darn hard to find. I waited for just over 5 weeks for my lfs to get them in. And They are very healthy and beautiful so I'd prefer to not risk it.
I say it depends on the aquarium in size. However I'd also say that there is always a risk that the mud skippers could get hurt. Basically I wouldn't risk it, especially if you really love your little guys.
Mudskippers are so wicked. I've wanted one since I was a kid. Maybe one day....

My tank is only a 10 gal right now. I won't switch them over until they get larger. I have created an imitation mudflat. I will post pics of the tank soon. Lots to explain but I need the pics to do so.
