So I emailed the shop that took my redeyes and found out that they still had some of them. We went there to see if I could buy my salivator back. Keep in mind that I paid £20 each for them, as they aren't cheap and they aren't easy to find, so I was hoping to buy my other one back for at least £15. When we got to the shop, I was saddened to see that most of the redeye puffers I had sold them weren't looking very good. One of them clearly looked underfed and possibly had IP's .... and the big salivator and another big irrubesco male were constantly fighting, and that was just in the time that I stood there watching them. There was never any aggression when they were all in my tank, of course, they were in my 4-foot tank and the shop had them all in a 24" tank, so that was probably a big part of it. Unfortunately they had sold the lorteti male, but still had a few females but I know they don't know what they have because they were advertising them as all "irrubesco" and that clearly was not the case.
As it turns out, my friend the manager said he would just "give" the salivator back to me, that I needn't pay for it at all!! I was dumbfounded, but I was also very happy because I felt so badly about giving that beautiful puffer up, and now I was overjoyed for having him back. Obviously i was curious to see how things would be when I put him back into the tank, since BeeBoo now lives in that tank too. I was afraid the salivator might hurt the MBU, but that didn't happen. In fact, they seem to like each other because the salivator has been hanging out with the MBU, and so I hope that continues to be a good friendship for the both of them.
