i hate walmart gsp

I just saw a horrible thing at wal-mart. 10 baby GSPs in a 20 gal. I'm cycled and set for freshwater but should I take one home and try to save him. Its really sad

It is sad, I went there on Friday during feeding time and they have a huge bulk container and they just give every tank no matter on species standard flake food. I wouldn't buy them though unless you were thinking of getting them, Buying them would only make the store replace them.

same here , my local walmart had like 10-15 in those cubes. at least 4 dead and multiple ones had missing fins

Like OCgatergal said, by supporting a place that abuses/neglects their fish, you are telling them it's ok, they sell anyway, so they get more to kill.

I know of a LFS that uses the "generic feeding tub", all the tanks get a pinch of it and off he goes. I used to buy GSP's from them because they seemed so neglected, and I felt sorry for them -- that's how I ended up with 5 GSP's (and am looking to rehome 3 of them). Initially I didn't agree with PufferPunk, but it's true, if we buy the fish from these horrible places, they will just get more -- and in the long run more puffers will suffer. I hate thinking about such places, but it's an overwhelming problem, so I try not to think about it because I can't do anything to help.
