puffers and archers ???

Post by david emmett »

Hi folks new to this site and love it. I recently bought 2 gsp puffers and my lps told me that it was fine to put them in with my archers in my brackish tank , my salinity is .008 but in reading some of the posts and connecting to some of the links in the library it seems to say I should have a salinity of at least .015 will this be ok for my archers if anyone knows and how quickly should I raise the salinity level so as to not shock the fish. The lfs tank was a completely fresh water or so they say. Any help and I,d be grateful Thanx Dave E

What size are your GSP's?

GSP's while small will be fine in that SG. When they are 4+" they can be acclimated to full SW conditions - and would prefer that to BW as adults.

My concern would be the size of tank they are currently in...Archers are large, messy fish and GSP's are messy as well. That's a big bioload you are going to have.

And the GSP's need 30 gallons a piece...

How big is the tank? Are you planning an upgrade?
How did you acclimate the puffers from 1.000-1.008?

Puffers & archers may get along, if the puffers don't turn out to be monsters (which is ofen the case with this species).
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...
