10g puffers?

I have a 10g with a few Dwarf Puffers already and they are great. I have another heavily planted 10g tank that I was going to put dwarf cichlids in, but I started wondering if there are other FW puffers that a 10g would be suitable for?
I like the looks of the irrubesco and the fact that they are supposedly more mild-mannered. Would a pair be happy in a 10? If not, a single one?

Also, a LFS has "FW Red Eye Puffers" that I was trying to figure out the species of. I'm going to go back and ask today and take a closer look. They look pretty beat up, so I suspect they are intolerant of conspecifics. Could they be one of the target puffers? They don't look quite like the irrubesco pics, but maybe it's because they're stressed out.

I'd go with only on irrubesco in a 10 gal. 'red eye' could mean irrubesco, but double check, as common names can be wrong. Good luck!

You could keep a T. cutcutia or a T. cochinchinensis in a 10 gallon. They are both 'red eye" lurker types....although the cutcutia is a bit more active than the cochinchinensis.

I went to the LFS to see about their "red-eyes." I asked a couple questions and realized that it would get me no where. They don't know the species. Don't know how big they'll get. Don't know what type of care they need, although they did say it would probably be happiest in brackish water. They are all beat up and some even have actual chunks out of their sides. It's so sad to see them in that condition, but I can't afford to be the one to save them.
I took a good look at them to see what they might be. The look sort of like tetraodon turgidis: yellowish, greenish, brownish backround with the darker spots. They did have a bit of a darker spot near their tail, but it wasn't red and it wasn't that pronounced. So, I think they're one of the target puffer group, maybe turgidis. Definitely not irrubesco, though. So, I'll wait.

BTW, how big a tank would a pair of irrubesco require to be happy and perhaps see some breeding? This may be my next project.

So, if I cleared out my 29 community, I could ge a pair. Good to know I think my girlfriend is attached to the silly swordtails and neons, but maybe I could talk her into it.
