How much to feed?
How much to feed?
I have been reading the forum and library this morning and I know all about what to feed my GSP but I don't know how much
Can somebody help me? She is 2 inches long overall. I have been feeding her a really small amount 2 times a day. Either one tiny snail in the morning and about 20 little blood worms at night. Or a tiny slice of clam etc? I just don't know if its enough and I don't want to feed her too much either. She is always looking and it makes me think she is hungry but I know that is just what they do.

Feed her until her tummy is fat, and until she is about 1/3 "taller" - her tummy should make up 1/3 of her height.
I can't find my PhotoBucket link, but somewhere on this post is a picture of one of my DPs right after I fed her.

You'll have to wait for someone else to answer your question about frequency.

"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Re: How much to feed?
i feed them up (like lilgreenpuffer said) every other day. im not sure if its correct? but i think if they get fed twice a day they wont be lookin 4 it, which is wat i thought they needed, 2 b kept stimulated, lookin 4 food will keep em busy. not 2 mention keepin the levels down after they rip a prawn apart!!! (messy eaters!!)
as 4 beggin 4 food, they seem 2 b masters at that! i cant go past the tank without them dartin forward 2 c if iv brought them anything.
in my mind under feed as opposed 2 over feed

Re: How much to feed?
Heh, I was gonna say feed until it looks like he's got a beer belly, but I think the previous posters got it a little more accurate than that.
At 2", I'd still keep it at once a day. I know GSPs can be fed less frequently when they are older, but I think that once a day should be fine for a 2" GSP. Granted, I've never kept one, just F8s, so I may be wrong.
I feed my F8s once a day, and that seems to be fine for them. I feed in the morning, and quite often, they will still have slightly rounded bellies at night from feeding that morning. If your puff's belly slims down quicker than that, you might want to feed a smaller meal in the evening in addition to the morning (or vice versa, don't know when you feed).

Re: How much to feed?
for around 2 inches you'd want to do 1 feeding a day when he's 3 or 4 inches its every other day and when their 4+ its every few days. But I don't think one snail counts as a meal IMO.

I believe you have small mud puddles mixed up with acres of rice paddies.
Re: How much to feed?
Thanks everyone
I have been feeding her once a day now and I feed her till she is nice and chubby. She seems to like that. Today I gave her a piece of prawn and she seems to eat till she is full and then leaves it. I love feeding her and watching her find her food. So far she loves blood worms, snails and prawns and clams. She will not eat krill or brine shrimp at all. Guess she is going to be spoiled
