I don't find it a good idea to follow the cups for gallon thing when it comes to measuring salt. I had once read the suggest amount is a cup per gallon. after eventually adding just 1 cup, i got it to the amount I needed. I suggest you just get a hydrometer and slowly add tablespoons till you get what you need which is 1.005 remember to only add 1.002 at most a week

I believe you have small mud puddles mixed up with acres of rice paddies.

Yep, she's right! You need something to measure the the salinity. If you look in the Brackish Puffers area, you'll find some stickies on mixing brackish water and how to get to the right salinity.

It doesn't work to just use a certain amount of salt. Different brands have different results. Even different bags of the same brand have different results.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Generally speaking, it's usually 2 tablespoons to one gallon (or 1 litre) of water. :)

You say you are "getting" them. Are they still in a shop? Do you have a cycled tank ready for them? What size? What SG are the puffers in right now? Please read the article on them in our Library, before you do anything.
