Mantis are buggers when in a reef tank. one hopped a ride from the LFS on a peice of live rock into my brother's reef tank. some fish went missing, then one night he saw the mantis out hunting. took about a week to catch the guy. but knowing he was in the tank he feed him krill to keep him away from the fish. they are true killers
Love the little Scarlet Leg Reef hermit (expensive snack though.... Blue Legs are much, much cheaper!). Poor guy looks like he's scared out of his wits.
Mantis are pests where they are not wanted . Mostly in tanks with fish and precious inverts. Many people have mantis in reef only tanks with the mantis the only non sessile thing in the tank.
Are you going to feed your mantis live crabs and what not? I have seen videos on youtube where its stuff like mantis vs shrimp and mantis vs crab. They can be sort of sad because the mantis are relentless in there attacks .
he is in 30g with 2 20g rated hob filters. i have videos on youtube of my old peacock and chiragra and glabrous. he is a little badass for sure brutal like none other.
Where do you buy these at? and are they hard to care for? My husband saw your photo and is interested in getting one now. I had no idea how mean they were until I saw them on youtube...holy smokes!
