hi hi as i said in my other post. I'm new to puffer fish. trying to choose the right one for my 10 gallon and 45 gallon; most likely a red eye puffer and a figure 8 or green spot.
my question is...is http://www.pufferlist.com/ absolutely accurate?
i read under the Tetraodon lorteti puffer that it can can live in a 5 gallon tank??? or does it mean 15 gallon? i was hoping to put a red eye in my 10 gallon if its true.

Pufferlist is as accurate as P_A and all of us here could make it. When it says that the Redeye needs 5 gallons, that is absolute minimum to support the fish and keep the water clean (assuming good filtration, proper feeding, and water changes). Is that the optimum? Certainly not. The optimum for most fish on the list would be at least half again the minimum up to 2x the minimum. Does that make sense? What you must do versus what you should do are two quite different things where housing and caring for pets are concerned. I try to do optimum housing and care whenever I can - it makes my life simpler and the pet's life safer as both of us have a bigger margin of safety.
