Fahaka +pleco

Post by taureandragon76 »

I was given a bunch of fish and small tanks the other day and one tank came with a common pleco, now it's only a 20g so obviously the pleco is gonna outgrow it quick.
I am just wondering what opinions are of putting it with my Fahaka?
I am fully aware of what can happen, what I am more concerned is if my Fahaka took a chunk outta the pleco would it harm the Fahaka in any way?

My fahaka gets really upset if ANYTHING is in his tank (me included) . Even if I wanted to risk killing the other fish I wouldn't want to stress my fahaka out.....

Um.... well it might not harm the fahaka, but you will DEFINITELY be putting the pleco in a significant amount of danger. Just something to consider.

That's kind of what I was thinking... You should be concerned about both fish. :?
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

I've got a pretty mean 12" Goldspot pleco. He has lots of spikes he tries to hit me with when I clean the tank. He takes some pretty good stabs at the python. I'd hate for that to be my hand! He lives with my fahaka BTW but he is one of the rarities.

Well I am alot more concerned about the fahaka than I am the pleco. I will probably in the end just get rid of the pleco. Commons are nothing but big poopin machines IMO.

i had a 10 inch gibby in with my fahaka up in tell two months ago with little to no problems. i found it hard to feed the pleco because my fahaka would eat the algea wafer before the hit the ground and he would get his fines nipped. the only reason i got rid of the pleco was because it poops like theres no tomorrow

Ive got a small 3" Bristlenose with my MBU and aslong as they dont cross paths there fine together, There has been a few close shaves (for the pleco) but he rapido's his arse well out the way when Puffs out and about.

But I do have to agree with the pooping, I thought my MBU was bad, but this pleco is a pooping machine lol

I have a common pleco with my Mbu.. they don't bother one another at all.. my Mbu will swim on top of the pleco pretty much ignoring it.
As for a fahaka.. if you really want to try it then as always with fish you're unsure about.. just watch them!

My fahaka killed a pleco that was twice its size at the time, didnt try to eat it or anything, just killed it. I have lots of plants and driftwood but it seems like anything that moves has to die. The only consolation to my fish being such a singleton is the surprising jolly disposition towards people looking in on the tank. I have heard people use the term "water puppies" describing puffers and mine definitely fits that bill, just stay out of it's yard!
