Could you put them in a big plastic storage container, with a heater and air stone? You could probably even do a h.o.b. filter if needed. That's what I do when I'm doing big rescapes on my tanks. I'll usually put the plants right in with the fish, as it seems to help them relax a little.

he is in "puffer heaven" eating ALL the shrimp and snails he could dream of
I understand when you say you just get attached, we have two our Abei we have had about a month and the new porcupine we have had for a little over a week, I am super attached to both!
