Set up questions for a puffer

Post by Err »

Hey folks, Im new here but I have decided to start planning/setting up a new tank. As a long time FW keeper I have a hankering for some salt! So I first decided what I want to keep so I could build around its needs, and absalutely without a doubt I want a Gold puffer in a FOWLR set up. A nice structure of LR in the middle of the tank and a bunch in the sump (along with any other nessicary gear). I have some basic questions that im sure you fine folks could help me out with tho. Will a 140g be large enuff to house a Gold Puffer for life? also are their tank mates that can go with this particular species that will not take away from (smaller) but enhance this magnificent fish?

Your tank is the perfect size for a Golden puffer. Not to discourage you but have you checked out the prices of those puffers?

Oh yea I checked them out, kinda pales in comparison to the set up tho lol. I allredy knew it was going to cost me when I decided to actively start researching and comeing up with a plan. But I dont have kids or any big responsabilities and I just finished paying off my car so I figured in a few months I will have enough $$ saved up to actually put this plan into motion. Only issue is actually geting ahold of the fish, looks like I will have to mail order it.
