Mistake with SG - is this okay?
My SG has been steadily 1.008 in my F8 tank. Well, I"ve been doing so many water changes lately with treating for ich, but no problems until tonight. I know I should wait a bit before testing, and I will retest tomorrow, but right now it reads 1.010. That's not more that .002 a week, but the fish will be okay? I know they are used to changes in salinity but I'd thought that their limit was 1.008.

It's fine.
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Thanks.
Kind of on the same topic, my silver scats are acting strange, now. Gasping and swimming un-coordinated. I'm thinking maybe sustained temps at 86 are doing them in. They are fed well enough.

I have a bubble bar going in there like mad- its about as long as the tank is wide. The puffs are doing just fine. I'm thinking now that I watch more they aren't too great in current. Water flow is pretty strong.

Note:
I'm assuming the temp is up for the ich since that's a common treatment.

Boy, these hydrometers really are "finicky."
Any bubble inside will throw it off.
I need to check my at least 5 times and take the median reading.
Will be getting a refractometer when I can.

They are way better than the floating kind.BeachORama wrote:Boy, these hydrometers really are "finicky."

I just dunk my hydrometer in the water and jiggle it a bit so the bubbles float out before I take it out of the water.
