Re: Mudskipper Died!
It sounds like your mudskipper had a happy life and was well-loved.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

I tried to give him a good life, and certainly loved the little critter more than I can say. They are very unique fish, and hardly seems like they are even a fish at times.

People think we're crazy for loving fish, but they're just amazing creatures when you give them proper care. They're really remarkable animals.

Re: Mudskipper Died!
In all honesty, before I started keeping Mudskippers (got them first) and puffers, I really didn't give any special considerations for fish, sorry to admit that, but it's true. Now, I think about living things in a whole different way. I'm amazed how intelligent these little things are and some of the antics they get up to. My puffers never cease to amaze me!

Bless him/her, hope he/she gets a mate soon.
Do your indian Dwarf mudskippers have as much of a colour pattern as your barbarus?

The Dwarf Mudskippers are a light tannish colour with white speckles ... but their dorsal fins are very pretty when they put them up (which isn't very often). The Dwarf skippers are very cute, but there's just something awesome about having a fish as big as my male was, sitting there staring at you, with that smile on his face!

Re: Mudskipper Died!
I know! My dad got annoyed when I was spazing out on Bullet almost dying. I really was sad. I love fish!! Especially ones with a personality, like puffers, bettas, african spotted leaf fish, and black knife ghost fish. I especially agree that when you give them proper care they're amazing! When people bettas in those 1/2 gallon bowls and flower vases, bettas don't show their true capacity. Keeping a male betta in a nice 5 gallon heated, filtered, and decorated and you'll see what a betta's supposed to be.LilGreenPuffer wrote:People think we're crazy for loving fish, but they're just amazing creatures when you give them proper care. Now, how exactly do you have their tank set up? Do you have to have a rock or log out of the water and a thick pool of mud?? Just wondering, incase in the distance future...

Re: Mudskipper Died!
I do a half sand, half water set-up, easier with the Dwarf Mudskippers because they are small, but the set-up with my big guys, well just a little harder to pull off. I recently removed all the sand from the big Mudskippers tank and replaced it with a very large "turtle dock", that way the one that's left has part land, and part water. They need very warm conditions as well, high humidity.
Speaking of which, I talked to my friend at the LFS in Sheffield, he says he can get me some Mudskippers, but trying to get ahold of some bigger ones. So it's looking as if I may be getting another in the near future.
