i just lucked into a nice 90 gallon tank for cheap,, and have decided to start a brackish tank for puffers, and some other fast moving fish. I've never had a tank like this will be so any advice would be great

Spotted & green spotted are the same fish & shouldn't be mixed w/F8s. You could keep 3 GSPs in there or a nice BW setup w/a few F8s, gobies & a few other low-end BW fish.

Dude, do one or the other. Tank mate aren't usually a good Idea for GSP's, and they will KILL your figure 8's. I've seen some luck with mollies. I stupidly bought a swordtail as a tank mate for mine and have already seen some aggression.

Personally I'd get 3-4 Figure 8's and a few bumble bees for a 90g. brackish tank.
Or, go with salt and a couple GPS's.

in a 90 i would get two smaller GSP as FW, read-read-and read about the acclimation to full salt, the organisms living in marine, live rock and equipment suggested. acclimate them over time and once salt water get a few damsels or other cool quicker small fish to act as clean up. i personally like my yellowtail and clownfish i have had luck with my GSP when i had him. my blue velvet damsel was really cool and nice, but got pretty aggressive with age. i have since rehomed him and lost my GSP. my GSP was very passive, the only thing he didnt seem to like and i think it was the green on the tail, was a six line wrasse. he went after him immediately and murder was his intention. luckily he didnt get the wrasse and he eased off him after a day and was fine after that. other than that i had luck with the damsels i listed and a spotted hawkfish i have. or if you are a species only person and you wouldnt want anything else in there, you could do 3, but the chances of all 3 being nice over their entire life span will be risky and it will be more upkeep for pristine water conditions. they get more aggressive with age so just keep that in mind
