Puffers that spit water....

Post by qtrhorse89 »

So I'm curious. I read and hear about how some marine puffers like the stars and stripes will spit water out of their tanks usually at some unsuspecting owner. But what about other large puffers like the mbu or the fahaka. Is it only the marine guys that exhibit this behavior or is it all of the larger puffers?

I'm learning that puffer fish are like pringles. There is no such thing as only wanting one.

Awww!
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Paris (mid sized saltwater burrfish) will occasionally spit water at me, usually if she thinks I'm taking too long in getting her food ready or when I'm doing water changes. She seems to feel that if I'm dumping water into her tank, she needs to spit it back out at me *sigh*

She is quite talented at getting me right in the eye too. I don't know why puffers are so fascinated with eyes, but they sure seem to have evil plots to rip them out of our heads sometimes.. or is that just me imagining it? LOL

None of my smaller puffers ever did this though (GSP's, figure 8, etc).
