My orange cromides have spawn and now I have about 50 - 60 small fryes( about 1 week old).
The interesting part of this is, that they are living in 1.006, which at first I thought was a little bit high in sg for them, but hen I found some sours saying they the wild live in 1.002 to 1.010( can live in fw also, but brackish better, the shop i bought them in had them in fw as they don´t have any brackish tank, cost about 12 euro each ) and the most common thinking is that they need no more than 1.002- to 1.003 to spawn and developing fryes.
About the aggression level they are realy In the lower parts( no tank terror parents), the bb they don´t care less about, the mollies they being case a little if they come near the fryes, but if something ( like my finger or the pipette I use for feeding the fryes) comes very closes they biting it.
They also move the fryes around allot, about 2 -3 times a day, they have 3 spot, 2 of them is a pit they done and one is a empty shell, never saw the actually moving part, only when they picked up some of the fryes that have moved out of the pit, that they do that by taking them in the mouth and spiting them back where they should be( in the pit).
The yellow coloring was only for one day and only the female had it, but they have some black and white camo coloring, the female have it all the time and for the male it goes and comes(the camo coloring did arrived when they started to spawn).
I also have some plants that live very well, some java fern ( as the most of you have had sucess with in brackish tanks) but also alot of the common egeria densa which grow very well in 1.006 ( not as fast as in fw) the cromides love to eat of them, but hey don´t eate the new branches that developing only the older parts.
When they have eating to much of one plant I usually replace that with a new one taking directly from one of my Fw tanks.(if the one they eaten of has allot of new branches I leave it so the new branches have time to developing, possible making it Even more salt resistance)
