They are naturally a grayish white color. What kind of water do you have him in. Knight Gobies are BW fish. He may just be getting used to the tank and is most likely hiding until he feels comfortable enough to swim around and investigate.

I have only ever seen gray knight gobies, not dark gray but gray none the less. Maybe it was the lighting that made the others you have seen appear white. I have two knight gobies, one I've had for about 8 months and the other about 4. They are both full grown. They have only recently stopped being reclusive, within the past two months. Now they are out in the open all the time and this past weekend they swam into my open hand (at the same time) to eat mysis shrimp as I was distributing it through the water. Just be patient, because once they are truly comfortable, they are amazing to watch.

How big is the knight goby and how big are the shrimp? My knight gobies go wild for mysis shrimp (the frozen kind). They also like the brine shrimp and spirulina, glass worms and blood worms.....mine eat pretty much anything.

have you tried live brine shrimp? If there's a little fish that won't come out of hiding for that I'm yet to find it!

I never see 2 of my timid BBG's so I feed the tank live brine shrimp every now and again just to make sure they come out and I can tell that they're still alive!

I get them by the bag at the LFS.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."
