Hmmm..my two GSPs

Post by lilacamy931 »

Sorry I have not been on much guys, been tres busy but do need some guidance if may. I have two GSPs in a 180 litre, been very slowly raising the salinity and they have been eating well.

They have been getting pretty aggressive towards each other at the moment and getting pretty sulky and anxious to a point that they really dont want people near the tank. I have always been gentle with them, but they are anxious things (one more than the other) and still pace occasionally and also really go for each other. I am unsure if they are trying to gain a dominant aspect or whether they just dislike each other (as this was always going to be a possibility). I have really tried with the tank and really padded it out but at a loss what to do now.

Been seriously considering giving one up, at a low moment both to better homes. Sorry to be melodramatic, but advice needed, many thanks. I still absolutely love puffs and trying my utmost with my two babies x

Hi Amy, sorry to hear about this dilemma. Do you have alot of ornaments, plants .... things that they can hide in and around, so that they aren't in each other's space so much? i think that would make a big difference in their behaviour.

It is pretty well padded out with lots of shelters, homes, coconuts, roots, plants, things attached from ceiling and walls to ensure good build up throughout the tank :/ At a bit of a loss! There was always the chance two wouldnt get on, so pretty aware of it.. Part of the problem is line of sights are broken quite well, one is much more boisterous and persistant than the other,

I just think that's odd because I've got 5 together in a tank and they are starting to get a bit bigger, yet I've got no real issues. I know I need to rehome some of them and I'm prepared to do that ... but maybe there's something else you can do about yours. I will think about this.

Mine have gone through many times of being aggressive. It has eased up a lot trying to feed them separate for over a year. Now I can actually feed them together again. Also adding the huge fake plant to the tank where they hang out. For us adding salt helped with aggression as well. Our salinity is about 1.08 slowly raising it.

Some puffers just don't play well with others.
