29 gallon aquarium? f8s? Stocking help?
Hi well after a VERY long time of frustrating issues, Im goin to receive a 29 gallon bowfron aquarium. Now this is a HUGE drop from the 70 tht i was getting
, But im trying to not let tht get the best of me. So, I went on a lil search around the lfs and have narrowed down the fish i wanted to keep to, f8 puffers, Mollies, and bumblebee gobies. Im just not sure of how many of how many i really wanna keep. I'd love to put the puffers as the center of attention, but i'd want other interesting fish too. So... any ideas of how to make it work?

Well frankly, if it were me, I'd only put two F8s in a 29 gallon and leave it at that - and actually, I'd be more likely to go with just a singleton. You could probably get away with adding a couple of mollies if you absolutely have to, as long as you can commit to doing substantial water changes on weekly basis. Just be aware that mollies can be nasty, and not in the least intimidated by a puffer: I had to remove a couple of them once from my first GSP's tank because they were harassing the poor little thing and wouldn't let him eat.

What I would do is have just one Figure 8, 3 female mollies (or 3 males, just don't get mixed sexes as you will have babies out your ears), and 5-10 bumblebee gobies.
Like marksrush said, it does depend on your fish's personality on whether you will have aggression issues to deal with. You could do 2 figure 8s in that tank, but you would probably not be able to do any mollies. You might get away with some bbgs, but I would say absolutely no more than 5 with 3 being more likely to succeed.

I have 2 F8s & a couple of Red chromides. The mollies & BBGs keep dieappearing out of that tank...
You are getting sleepy... you only hear the sound of my voice... you must do water changes... water changes... water changes... water changes...

Hehe. And of course your F8s swear they had nothing to do with it!Pufferpunk wrote:I have 2 F8s & a couple of Red chromides. The mollies & BBGs keep dieappearing out of that tank...

I have two orange chromides, 1 f8, 3 bb gobies, and 4 dalmatian mollies. No problems at all so far. However my f8 is still young and just over an inch and a half. I also do 40% weekly changes and have 350gph of filtration.
