ATT: PP OR CORVUS... NEED URGENT HELP!!!

ok in 2 weeks i will be moving from brisbane to sydney
and urgently need to know how im going to transport ziggy.
freight is out of the question ive become too attached to him
to let him die on a boat or plane, i will be driving for around 12 hours

i have been to about 10 lfs looking for an air pump or filter thats either
battery operated or plugs into a car lighter and cant i find anything.

so what i was planning on doing is.....

filling 4, 20litre drums of clean water premixed and ready
and another drum containing ziggy, and doing a few water changes on the way?

im not sure if this is the greatest idea tho
so can anybody let me know what im ment to be doing?
should i have a small ammount of cycled gravel in his drum with him
so it will help filter waste?

Although I live on the "other side of the lake", I don't see why you couldn't find a battery powered pump. Have you looked online or Ebay?

Even a small 12V Car/Auto Electric Pump Air Compressor/Tire Inflator, which should be available in Brisbane would be modifyable and can be turned on a few times an hour if too strong. There are even solar powered versions of pumps you can make a filter from (useless at night of course)...

Don't feed the fish 4 to 5 days prior to the move. It won't starve in this time and will produce much less ammonia. I would not use gravel in the drum.

An extra drum with water for water changes if necessary won't hurt for sure.

i just got a hold of a battery powered air pump at a fishing tackle shop,
the box says it pumps 0.4L of air per minute will this be enough?
whats the likelyness of him surviving? i dont want him to die because
i insisted on dragging him through a 12 hour trip

Ah, good. Don't forget extra batteries.
Chances for survival are quite good if ou stick to what is noted above and can keep the temperature in the car within the ususal range.

Don't freak out. Fish survive three-day trips in the mail all the time, and are no worse for wear if the proper packing techniques are used. Twelve hours with supervision and care is nothing. Good luck!

easilly done, i got to sydney a week ago,
surprisingly the entire trip he was begging for
food when i would check on him and showed very
little signs on stress at all, only the occaisional jump
when we went over rough road or a speed humps

That's great! My puffers did surprisingly well in my recent move, too. I think that we stress out more than they do, provided that we follow the proper steps to keep them safe and comfy during the move.
