Oh no! I can't believe it. So so sorry. Definitely would not have been anything that you could have done to have prevented it & certainly not anything that you did to cause it.

ANOTHER UPDATE ON DEAD CONGO

Post by pufferpuggirl »

Well here's the latest. They didn't bother to call me back, so I called them back. This time I spoke with the manager, a man that I've spoken to on numerous times when I've been up there (had no idea he was the manager though). He was cool about it and didn't blame me at all, he said that these things happen, could have been stress from the transport, who knows. But he didn't blame me at all, and was very kind about it. He did ask if I wanted them to try and find another red Congo and I told them that I wasn't really that bothered. I mean, I've got a lovely orange Congo and maybe I should just be happy with what I have instead of trying to do one better. As it is, I have my hands full. :?

Be careful! He could have spread something to the Abei. I guess you didn't quarantine?

I'm sorry about the Congo. He must have been beautiful.
"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

No, I didn't quarantine, but my friend at the LFS where I got the red Congo from did that for me. He kept it for about 2 weeks before he would let me come and get it. I trust this lad because he's got puffers of his own, including a red Congo, so I think he would do the right thing. I can't say that for the LFS nearest me, they don't quarantine anything, once it comes in, it's up for sale.

I froze the red Congo, just in case they wanted the body for proof. I could not see anything that would clue me as to why it died. It's still in my freezer, and when I look at it, I think what a shame, such a lovely deep red colour. But my orange one is lovely too, and colour is just on the outside, and my orange girl has grown incredibly since I got her, and it's been cool watching her get bigger and watching her personality develop.
