Ready for Brackish..just a little help needed

Right got the refractometer (calibrated to 1.000), marine salt, 50 litre tub, heater, powerhead. So get the 50 litre tub filled up and heat it to that of the tank (25degrees) and then add the salt slowly and check after a 20 min mix with the refractometer to see if getting right?

I have the 180 litre tank and the 50 litre tub, with a water change it will roughly be a third water change. So need to for first time to raise 0.002. So the tub's salinity needs to be... 1.006? Or am I barking up the wrong tree??Thanks very much for any help x

p.s. the puffs are doing very well, managed to get raw prawn which they love, got the feeding technique going better now

You should do it with a 50% change and a 1.004 SG, I would think. I might be dead wrong. I just know that since marine salt can cause burns, you should do a change of at least 50% to have it as diluted as possible.

And you would do a final SG check after 24hrs of mixing...

Only thing with a 50% is have only two further buckets and need those to take the water out, otherwise will have to wait till next week to get another tub. Don't worry pm'd Dadof4 won't do anything for the moment! LOL p.s. thanks Lilgreenpuffer!

LOL thanks hate to be on a wrong'un. Got quick reply from Dadof4 (he sounds busy to the max!), instructions is to do 25% water change, with 40 litres ready as the 25% and to do at 1.008. So off to attempt! Thanks Dadof4!

Got in Wilkinsons for £4, they did have 80 litre ones as well but less sturdy and most were snapped or broken

LOL The one I have is a very sturdy solid grey tub which was a much better bargain than the flimsy others they had

Well we have left to mix overnight and will see what the salinity is tonight, all fingers crossed for a smooth water change! Thanks for everyones help, especially Dadof4! x
