Anyone have a guineafowl puffer?

Post by mrgreen »

I saw an article by Mike Maddox on big marine puffers and the ones was the cover photo, so to speak. The article says they're rare in the trade, but the colors are neat. The one in the photo was dark blue with white dots.

I do not own one, but i have swam with many while snorkeling. In terms of trying to find one while snorkeling on Oahu, they aren't really rare. But smaller aquarium sized ones are. The ones i normally find are already quite large, already "show" size. I've never seen one that was blue, they are almost always light grey to a dark grey, almost black with white spots, or pale yellow to the amazing golden puffers.
i'm busy thinking of ways to remember what i was going to say

Ok. The picture made it look a very dark blue. I've seen the golden puffs for sale online for lots of $$$$.
