Is it ok to feed MTS

I have tank that is over running with mts, (Trumpet Snails). Can I feed them to my two GSPs?

The shells are very hard & can break puffers teeth. I have fed them in the past, but thoroughly crushed up.

The reason I was asking was in last months TFM, they said to feed them to puffers as food, also I have sand in their tank and want it to get stirred up.

Oh, we've just gotten some snails that look like mts on the recommendation from the lfs to feed them to George (our Abei)... do you think they will damage his teeth?

I guess it would depend on the size of the puffer & snail. I think I would prefer to crush them for the smaller puffers, but maybe the bigger ones could manage them?

I would stay away from MTS myself because if it was to break your puffers teeth, it's not something that can be fixed, not if they crack or split .....so I'd be very careful. Anyone that has access to eBay can usually get snails, good ones, either ramshorn or pond snails. I personally would not take a chance on the MTS with any of my puffers.

There has been a few discussions on MTS breaking puffers teeth and it came down to one person thinking a chipped tooth was from MTS. I haven't heard of any other incidents. Also, feeding MTS to an MBU would be different than feeding them to a Dwarf puffer. I do know people do use MTS but crush them first because of the one indecent.
