Can it work?

So as ive said before on this forum, im getting a F8 this week and right now i have a balloon molly in my tank, and ive always had mixed opinions whether a molly can workout with an F8, so i was wondering can it work, and what should i do?

i pretty much have these options

itll work
the molly will get eaten
or give the molly to my gf

so if i do take the chance of putting the F8 in while my mollys in there, should i watch to see how they act or what?

If your molly were a regular black molly, I'd say that it's actually the F8 that might suffer as mollies can be bullies. I tried a couple of black lyretail mollies with my GSP when I first got her, but soon had to take the mollies out because they constantly harassed her and kept her from eating. Balloon mollies, though, are a lot slower, so who knows how it would go. Probably not well, especially if the F8 is much larger than the molly. Of course, like you wrote, you could try it out and watch them closely to see how it goes, and if it turns bad, then your girlfriend can take the molly.

My mollies have lasted for a while with the F8s but get picked off one at a time.

My pregnant mommy-molly is a real bitch to my f8's. She will head butt them when it's feeding time. I wish I could give all my molly's away as they just keep on breeding in my tank... But mine are also black molly's. I think the balloon molly wouldn't last long if your figure 8 has some aggression in him!
