This topic is for the GSP lovers out there.
Honestly, a few months ago, I never knew I would end up with GSPs. I've always seen them in Walmart looking all skinny. Being ignorant, I thought that is how they looked like. I didn't like how skinny they were.
I never liked them until I saw a few videos from YouTube. What I saw in these videos where plump healthy GSPs. I did more research and I thought they were very cute. I didn't realize how excellent they looked if they were healthy. That whole time I thought of them as being stick figured fish at Walmart. I am just glad to have seen these YouTube videos to make me love puffers. I'm sure you'd love these videos too. Very cute puffer. I want all the GSPs I have to be like it too.

That tank is actually probably about 5 gallons, anybody else agree?Lil' Swimz$ wrote:That puffer is way too big for that small 10 or 15 gallon tank its in!
They look the most like a puffer out of any of the puffers I think. When most people think of "puffers", they think of a fish that looks like a GSP.

I agree that yes, they look the most like a puffer out of any of the puffers, but I don't know about the tank. I've got a 10 gallon and it looks pretty close in size.

I usually thought of a porc, actually.
I got three GSPs because they had little fins that looked like eyebrows. Not a happy ending to that story, though.

"I will give you a talisman. Whenever you are in doubt, or when the self becomes too much with you, apply the following test. Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

Re: Reason Why You Got a GSP?
I am hoping to get my two GSPs after a very long wait tomorrow. I have always loved pufferfish, especially porcs and only ever seen them in oceanariums. Never crossed my mind they could be kept as pets with the rights conditions. I stumbled across what I now know as ceylons in a shop and my love sprung anew. I found this forum shortly after and with the library and choice wanted a puff for sure but which one? Got a beaut of a 180 litre on ebay for £130 with heater and filter and it was just a matter of time from March/April when bought to when could get the funds or birthday in September. The tank slowly built up and the amount of time I had helped me to settle on GSPs out of a choice of GSPS, F8s and SAPs.
Why GSPs in particular, their colouration and size had always attracted me, I wanted a fairly big puff after having DPS and these fitted the bill, I ummmed and ahhed about the brackish and perhaps eventual marine side but since seeing them in the flesh and youtube I am smitten and know they are the ones for me! I managed to make sure I saw all the three species before deciding and GSPs definately were the cuties I am after. (Will also say that particular puff in the videos above even though in small tank and overfed a tad also swayed me into waiting). Sorry for the rambling
