Decorating my Tank

Post by Michael[91] »

Hey so after looking at other setups, ive come to like the greenish setup with a huge peice of driftwood in there, with sand substrate. but right now my tank is pretty much opposite being bright blue neony so i was wondering if you guys can give me setup ideas, whether its a whole new setup or just a few new decorations any thing would help.

ps. im getting a F8 and a few BBG's next week, the tanks a 20G here are the pics.

i know that F8s are extremely curious so i was wondering what big decorations i can get so the F8 will explore.

Fake coral, since you're doing the bright look. You can also get brightly colored plastic plants. A background would be a good idea, too.

Recall the face of the poorest and the weakest man whom you may have seen, and ask yourself, if the step you contemplate is going to be of any use to him or her. Will she gain anything by it? Will it restore her to a control over her own life and destiny? In other words, will it lead to freedom for the hungry and spiritually starving millions? Then you will find your doubts and your self melt away."

A nice brackish look is mangroves. You can use live or dead real ones, but keep in mind that dead ones will come back to life, and that live ones will grow... right through the glass... I'd go with fake. If you want real, though, you'd have to trim the roots periodically. The real plus to mangroves it that they make nice "jungle gyms." You can use java moss and java ferns, which do well in brackish water. A dark or black sand would be nice.

Choose the subforum that your past belongs in, and then click "NEWTOPIC." It is a white button with red text, at the top left.

Michael - yes, that's a gorgeous tank. Thing is, most plants won't make it in brackish water. This thread covers the ones that will: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4792

The plants in that tank look like some kind of moss and Vallis Spirallis. Java moss will grow at 'just' over SG1.005 and the vallis will be healthy between SG1.003 and SG1.005.

If you live in the US (always helpful to fill out that part of your profile), go to Petsmart. They have 3-4 different fake mangrove root styles to choose from. I have them in all my puffer tanks. They make great swim thrus.
