R.I.P. Chumba Wumba Died, Now the Other One is Really Down?

well, today one of my GSPs died

R.I.P Chumba Wumba

i went out everything was fine cause i just fed them
and i got home it looked like the filter head, i think thats what you call it, fell of and the filter was stopped.
so chumba wumba got sucked up the filter tube, i was buggin sooo much

so now the other GSP, Lamaldi
hes been hiding under a rock since
could this be from the other one dying

b4 Chumba Wumba died, lamaldi wasnt the most "adventurous" one, he always the follower if chumba
i feel sooo bad the 3 of us were buddies =(

I'm so sorry for your loss!

I came home one day to find one of my Dwarf puffers sucked into my filter, the little venturi on the top, I had it below water level, and you're supposed to have it above (but I didn't know that at the time). It was my very first puffer death and I took it so hard. The poor little thing was face first in the venturi.

I did cry, and I still cry each time one of my puffers dies. Since that first accident, unfortunately, I've had more than my share of death and dying. But it doesn't make it any easier when it happens.

Sorry about your pufferfish thats terrible!! The only time i had tears in my eyes over a fish, was when my 5yr old (or even older) siamese fighting fish died. That was horrible, he was with me wherever i went, when i moved two times, and in the car...it was just really sad.

yeah it is =/
i had him for nine months, the 5 yrs was prolly rele hard
and as for the dead fish in the past, like ive worked for a pond shop since i was 8, so ive seen my share of dead fish... yuck lol but it does kind numb it after a while
i did have a few tears, not gonna lie- he was my 1st puffer/puffer death
but im looking at it in a good way,
i still have the other one, lamaldi, so im putting him in a new tank- 30 g
and im taking me 100 g tank and getting a porcupine
so because he died, its giving me more options and thats the way im loking at it
but thaks for your concerns

I understand totally where you're coming from xmikebrock because when my poor Congo was murdered by my Baileyi, I was really torn up, just awful, but that death allowed me to get my big Ceylon puffer, as well as my turgidus puffer and another beautiful orange female Congo. So, while it was a bad thing that happened, if it had not happened I would not have 3 lovely puffers that I value immensely.

but as for the 100g not being enough,
thats what all the sites and books ive read say.

Back to your original question, it's possible that the death may be the reason why he's hiding. Given the previous behavior, it seems like he might be missing his buddy. Btw, how big were they? I believe the smaller ones tend to group together a bit and as they grow older become more solitary.

I agree with what you've said bazil323 about them staying together when small and then becoming more solitary. I have 5 GSP's that are all very happy together, but I suspect as they get bigger problems will arise.
