New To Puffers...

I, as many others; have been sucked into the ever-so-wonderful world of puffer fish. Recently... I am hoping to buy my first puffer in the near future, and was looking for some advice. I have a ten-gallon freshwater aquarium. Any suggestions as to what puffer to get to fit this enclosure? Information such as PH, dGH, dKH, nitrates, lighting, temperature, aquarium set-up and other information is much obliged.

This is what I dug up from the puffer encyclopedia thus far as to feeding as well:

Frozen

Mussel
Cockle
Krill
Prawn
King Prawn
Crabs and crabs legs
Bloodworm
Black worms
Siversides
Live

Snails (Rocker’s Snail Breeding Article) | (RTR’s Snail Breeding Article)
Crabs
Crayfish

Crickets (occasionally)
Meal worms (occasionally)

Plankton

I'm guessing this diet would suit all puffers [please tell me if I am wrong].

If there is additional information for the particular puffer you recommend, I'd much like it to be posted as I want to learn and succeed with my aquarium.

Would the Mbu Puffer be a good decision? Looks appealing.

You have a 10g tank? Fery few species will fit in there. 3 dwarf puffers or one of the red eye species, like the lorteti. That's about it. Did you look at th adult size of the mbu?

Not really. Just flicked through pictures... I noticed it just after posting the first reply.

I can upgrade the tank size with ease. Up to about 30 gallons.

In my opinion, the Dwarf puffer is a good starter for people who are new to puffers. They are hardy, easy to keep and won't grow to a huge size.
That's the very first puffer I got, and then as I got more confident, I went to South American puffers.

Absolutely get dwarf puffers! They're perfect for that size tank and relatively easy fish to care for. They have great personalities and act like they're much bigger than they are. They love to hunt live snails and it's so much fun to watch. Let us know when you get them.

Yeah, all I can say is research, research, research! And yeah, definitely not a Mbu.

Aha, I've realized that already... No Mbu's yet.

Hopefully soon though. I love them
